Synopsis
An Evening at the Vittoriano
Guided tour for adults
Friday, July 4 at 8 p.m. and Friday, July 18 at 8 p.m.
Visitors can discover the Vittoriano in the evening hours by participating in exploratory walks and animated tours to take participants on a journey through time in the footsteps of artists, musicians, philosophers and filmmakers.
A visit to the Victor Emmanuel II Monument, or Vittoriano, is a must-see experience for anyone, Italian or non-Italian. The complex, conceived in January 1878 in honor of Italy’s first king Victor Emmanuel II, and the entire Risorgimento process, has housed the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and other reminders of our history since 1921. Participants enter through the monumental gate on Piazza Venezia, ascend to the Altar of the Fatherland and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, admire the statue of Victor Emmanuel II on horseback, remain breathless at the size of the Piazzale del Bollettino and the Sommo portico to finally reach the spectacular Panoramic Terrace located at the top and enjoy a unique view of the city of Rome.
WHERE: entrance to the Vittoriano, Ara Coeli side.
